Day 1 : RIO DE JANEIRO / ARRIVAL
International flight arrival (not included, schedule and flight number to confirm). Reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: RIO DE JANEIRO / BEHIND THE CARNIVAL SCENES
At 09:00, meeting with an English-speaking guide in the hotel lobby. Transfer to the “Cidade do Samba”, as place created to host the garment and the floats factory of the Carioca special group samba schools. An incursion into the carnival backstage. Visit of the Grande Rio samba school factory. After the visit, it is time for a couple of workshops. Stimulate hearing by a percussion workshop. Presentation and introduction to the rhythms that compose the samba. Discover the instruments with enigmatic names: cuíca, agogô, afoxé, bandolim, … Stimulate the body by a dance workshop! Unleash the sounds of samba, a while forbidden, that makes the world dance since 80 years. It illustrates the everyday life, the crossbreeding and the Brazilian. An essential training to face the Carioca nights. Stimulate creativity with a dressmaking workshop, in the middle of the feathers and sequins, to create and adorn, a hat or a t-shirt. Return to the hotel by late morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3 : RIO / CORCOVADO & THE HISTORICAL CITY CENTER
A 09:00 a.m, meeting with an English-speaking guide in the hotel lobby. Private transportation to one of the modern world 7 wonders, the worldwide symbol of Rio de Janeiro. From the Corcovado hill, the allegory of Jesus Christ embraces and protects the Cidade Maravilhosa. The panorama offers on the city and its environment is impressive. On one side, the legendary beaches: Ipanema, Leblon, …, the Sugar Loaf; on the other, the northern area and the Maracanã stadium. The descent is an opportunity to cross the bohemian district of Santa Teresa. Stop at Escadaria Selaron to discover the heart of the Carioca capital on a walking tour. Founded in 1565, São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro has a lot to teach. The cobbled streets share space with skyscrapers and museums. The group interests will determine the visitation schedule, but it guarantees the main attractions: Cathedral, Confeitaria Colombo and Praca XV. The visitation allows to discover every phase of construction of the city and its development for the World Cup and the Olympic Games. The walk is an opportunity to stop in the souk of Uruguaiana. Shopping in feather shops, frills and accessories of all kinds to make a disguise and honor the program of the next days. Return to the hotel by mid-afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4 : RIO DE JANEIRO / STREET CARNIVAL
Morning at leisure.
At 14:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. By public transportation, the hunt begins in the South Zone and downtown in search of street orchestras. In the street, where everything starts. Attentive to sounds and costumes, stroll through the quiet streets in search of the sound of costumed amateur orchestras. A danced and colorful moment in the heart of the carnival fever of the Brazilian people and its good mood. Finally, to discover that the schools samba parade is only a part of Rio’s Carnival. Return to the hotel by late afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 5 : RIO DE JANEIRO / BOTANICAL GARDEN & CARNIVAL PARADE
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Private transportation to the botanical garden. Created in 1808 by the Prince Regent Dom João VI, it was first opened to acclimate European aromatic and medicinal plants. It has a large biodiversity today. Walk between bromeliads, orchids, fruit trees and tropical plants to discover the large Brazilian biodiversity. A lush and quiet area in the heart of the carioca metropolis where it might be possible to spot toucans, monkeys and butterflies. Return to the hotel by late morning. Afternoon at leisure.
At 21:00 meeting in the hotel lobby with a English-speaking guide. Private vehicle transfer to Lapa and to the Sambodrome. The last meters are on foot to enjoy the pulsations that surround the party. Built in 1984, it becomes a few days a year the center of Brazil and the world carnival. 80,000 people sing, dance and chant the name of their school in search of the supreme title. 06 schools will challenge each other until dawn in an avalanche of colors and good mood. To the sounds of the “samba enredo“, the “mestre sala” presents the school while the “rainha da bateria” opens the procession of “percussionistas” on a disguised and colorful human tide. A bright spectacle that is repeated every year as the manifestation of the most important Brazilian popular movement. Return to the hotel from 01:00.

Day 6 : RIO DE JANEIRO / SUGAR LOAF & URCA
At 14:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Private transportation to the Sugar Loaf. Short walk by the red beach and the Claudio Coutinho trail before going up to the Morro da Urca with the centenary cable car. The intermediate step reveals a new perspective on Rio south district and the city centre. The Sugar Loaf Mountain is reached by a new cable car ascension. At 396 meters above sea level, the views of Copacabana, the Guanabara Bay, Niteroi, Christ the Redeemer are impressive. Time at leisure to appreciate the panorama or to have a drink among Rio’s panorama. Back at the mountains’ bottom walk tour in the bucolic neighbourhood of Urca, ideal for lunch. Return to the hotel by late afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.
