DAY 1 : SALVADOR / PELOURINHO & HISTORICAL CITY CENTRE
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Guided visit of the “Pelourinho”, where the history and energy of Salvador are centred. Walking among traditional houses and churches. Salvador reveals the secrets of the afro-Brazilian religion and its baroque treasures. The “Pelourinho” surprises travellers on every corner: a “Batuque”; a cold beer; a ‘berimbau “; a “roda de Capoeira “. From the “Elevador Lacerda”, an amazing view of the Baia de Todos os Santos; the area “do Comercio”, and the souvenir mercado modelo. On the other side the “Praça da Sé”; and the Museum of Afro-Brazilian culture, the pulsating heart of Salvador. Return to the hotel by the end of the morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 2 : SALVADOR – PALMEIRAS – CAETÉ AÇU
At 06:00, meeting in the hotel lobby, with a local Portuguese-speaking driver. Private transpotation to Salvador bus station. At 07:00, departure by collective passenger bus to Palmeiras, gateway to the Chapada Diamantina National Park. 07H30 journey for 445 km. 07H30 journey for 445 km. Check-in, installation at the hotel and rest of the day leisure to visit the tiny born hippy village.

DAY 3 : CAETÉ AÇU – GERAIS DO VIERA – GERAIS DO RIO PRETO – VALE DO PATI
After breakfast, short transfer from Caeté-Açú to Bomba. The day trek leads to the heart of the Chapada Diamantina national park and the Pati valley. 06H00 walk for 600 meters uphill. The journey is pretty heavy but promises to be rewarding. Well nature brilliantly expresses itself here through the discreet birds, a rich flora, some endemic orchids and large panorama on the mountains. Picnic in the Brazilian immensity looking at the Chapada’s unique formations. After a while on the flat plateau an abrupt descent lays in front to reach the canyon’s heart before a last saddle which leads into the Pati valley. Upon arrival, installation in a rustic local room of a valley resident. Free time before dinner. Evening under the stars.

DAY 4 : VALE DO PATI / CASCADES & MORRO DO CASTELO
After breakfast, hike to the nearby waterfalls that supply water to the green valley. Free time to bath and relax at the Banareiras waterfall. Picnic next to another one: the Lajeado waterfall. The afternoon is an opportunity to trek to the Morro do Catelo’s summit. The climb is short but intense. 01H30 walk for 400 meters uphill. From there it is possible to enjoy a large magnificent panorama of the Chapada Diamantina National Park mountains, gorges and valleys. The trail down ends by sunset, the refuge is in sight. The evening brighten by stars foretell fertile dreams.

DAY 5 : VALE DO PATI – GUINÉ – LENÇÓIS
After breakfast, it is time to leave Raquel’s house. The trek back to Lençóis starts by an ascension to the Rio Preto plateau. 05H00 walk for 450 meters uphill. The summit reveals a flat trail. Swimming break and lunch on the banks of a Black River. The journey continues to Béco, a last step before Guiné’s village on the west border of the National Park. From there off-road vehicle journey to Lençóis. 01H30 journey for 80 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel and evening at leisure.

DAY 6 : LENÇÓIS – SALVADOR
Morning at leisure.
At noon, the group shall make his way to Lençóis bus station. At 13:00, departure by collective passenger bus to Salvador. 06H30 journey to 415 km. Upon arrival, reception at the bus station and private transpotation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and evening at leisure.

DAY 7 : SALVADOR – FORTALEZA – JERICOACOARA
03H00 prior to take-off, private transpotation to the airport. Domestic flight Salvador – Fortaleza (schedule and flight number to confirm). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transpotation to Jericoacoara. 04H30 drive for 320 km. The paved road leads to a path between dunes and palm trees before reaching the sands streets of “Jeri”. Check-in, installation at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure in the village sandy streets.

DAY 8 : JERICOACOARA / AT LEISURE
Day at leisure.
Numerous activities can be organised in Jericoacoara:

  • ½ day in buggy to Tatajuba or “Pedra Furada”;
  • Horse ride on the dunes and beaches of “Jeri”;
  • Walks , sand board on the dunes;
  • Chill, relaxation, and grilled fish;
  • Boat or kayak rentals;
  • Kite and Wind surfing initiation, equipment rental.

DAY 9 : PARNAÍBA – DELTA DAS AMERICAS – CABURE – ATINS
After breakfast, private transpotation to “Porto dos Tatus”. Embark on a motor boat to cross the delta of the “Parnaíba River”. Time to unveil a myriad of islands and channels. Swimming under the eyes of birds and other animals. Crab fishing in the mud! The morning runs and Tutóia emerges. Disembark and lunch before the last activity of the day. In a 4x4 transportation, a 60 kilometres journey along the ocean to reach Caburé. Fishermen huts grow along the deserted beaches. A last boat ride across the Preguiça River until Atins. Upon arrival check-in, Installation in the hotel and time at leisure in the village facing the “Rio Preguiças”. The landscape and the hammocks are clear invitation to tranquillity.

DAY 10 : ATINS / LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES
After breakfast, a new route to conquer the desert. The story repeats, caught in the curves and colours of the lagoons. The surface, caressed by the wind passage, modifies under the weight of divers. The viewing angles and colours are perfect for photography. Picnic at the foot of water. The evening continues at the pace of the desert and swim. The setting sun colours the horizon at a time of meditation. Return to Atins at dawn.

DAY 11 : ATINS – RIO PREGUIÇAS – BARREIRINHAS
After breakfast, aboard a motor boat, sailing towards the village of Mandacaru. A hundred steps separates the traveller from a panoramic view of Atins, the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park and Caburé. A sand piece disappearing beneath the ocean and the river activity. The boat returns to shore for lunch. This afternoon incursion into Stroll into the mangroves for mud bath trying to catch crabs. Silent progression allows to observe and listen to herons and parrots and maybe see the monkeys Arrival in Barreirinhas by the end of the day. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. DAY 12 : BARREIRINHAS – LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES – BARREIRINHAS
Morning at leisure in the village of Barreirinhas. At 14:00, meeting in hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Excursion to the southern border of the Lençóis Maranahenses National Park. On the road, the vegetation changes … palms “babaçus” and “Buritis” disappear. The dunes extend to lose sight. Story repeats herself, running and diving in the curved and coloured lagoons. The surface, caressed by the wind, dances under player’s weight. The setting sun colours the horizon to grant a peaceful time. Return to Barreirinhas by the end of the day.

DAY 13 : BARREIRINHAS – SÃO LUIS
After breakfast, collective passenger transport transpotation to São Luis. 04H00 journey for 260 km. Villages and plantations pass behind the windows. A mere reflection of local day-by-day, local agricultural life. Lunch along the road before the finish line. Upon Arrival, check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure to discover São Luis historical city centre.

DAY 14 : SÃO LUIS – SANTARÉM – RIO JARI – RESERVA FLORESTAL DE TAPAJOS
03H00 prior to take-off, private transpotation to the airport. Domestic flight Sçao Luis – Santarém (schedule and flight number to confirm). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transpotation to the floating harbour. Meeting with an English-speaking guide who will escort the group during the cruise the 04 days and 03 nights cruise. Boarding and installation on a typical regional boat. Among fresh drinks, introduction to the crew and to the itinerary. Navigation to the flotted area of the Rio Jari, where lives many kinds of animals: alligators, birds, capybaras, pink dolphins, otters.. Lunch in the village of Arapixuna. Visit to the local community that lives from fishing and the extration of cassava. During the afternoon, navigation from the Rio Tapajós to the Floresta Nacional dos Tapajós. Dinner and free time on the deck under the stars to listen the Amazon rainforest whispers.

DAY 15 : RESERVA FLORESTAL DE TAPAJOS – ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, hike into the heart of the secondary rainforest. 04H00 walk. The guide is essential to unveil the mysteries of this green curtain. The trail reveals a few secrets: rubber trees, medicinal plants and giant trees. Return on board for lunch. Navigation continues south to meet soon Alter do Chão. A charming village, famous for its strip of sand in the middle of dark waters. Free time in the local indigenious museum, the craft shops or on the beach. Dinner on board and evening at leisure.

DAY 16 : ALTER DO CHÃO – JAMARACUA – ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, hike to the community of Jamaracua. 02H00 walk into the heart of secondary forest. The guide is essential to explore the environment and discover the technics developed by the locals to survive. It is not easy to move, to self-defend, to dress and to feed in this immensity. Their knowledge is impressive: plants, fruits and tracks have no secrets for them. More curious are the means of camouflage and communication. By late morning, arrive at the village, located at the limit of the extractive reserve of the Rio Tapajós. Visit of the village and presentation of its local customs. Lunch in the community. In the afternoon, canoe trip on the inundated arms of the river. Progression is slow and silent to observe wildlife that comes to drink or hunt on the banks. Bath in the dark waters. Return to Alter do Chão by the end of the day. Dinner is served on the white sand beach. Night under the stars.

DAY 17 : ALTER DO CHÃO – MAICÁ – SANTARÉM – BELO HORIZONTE
Morning navigation towards the Lago Maicá. Canoe trip into the mangroves among houses on stilts, monkeys, sloths and many birds. Peace reigns on this place. Back on board to get back to Santarém. Last adventure around the meeting of the waters. The unfinished encounter of the black water of the “Rio Tapajós” and the clear waters of the” Rio Amazonas “. The Amazon experience ends around lunchtime. Disembark and private transpotation to Santarem airport. Domestic flight Santarem – Belo Horizonte (schedule and flight number to confirm). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transpotation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and evening at leisure0.

DAY 18 : BELO HORIZONTE – INHOTIM – OURO PRETO
At 08:30, meeting in the lobby of the hotel with an English-speaking guide/driver. He will escort the group on Minas Gerais colonial cities routes. Transfer to the Inhotim complex. 01H00 journey for 60 km. Created in 2005, this botanical and landscape gardens feature a collection of contemporary art in: “a place of knowledge production where the environment and art coexist”. Guided walking visit through cultural and scientific initiatives which compose the complex. The closure of the Inhotim leads us back on the road to Ouro Preto. 01H30 journey for 110 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. Evening at leisure.

DAY 19 : OURO PRETO & MARIANA
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. The wealth extracted from mines in the XVIII century transformed the region into an architectural museum. A perfect stopover for art and architecture lovers. Discover colonial houses and religious buildings such as Nossa Senhora do Pilar church…, the art of Aleijadinho, Mestre Athaíde and their disciples. The tour continues to Mariana located about 10 km away from Ouro Preto. The singular village is almost untouched since the Portuguese installation: a wonder! Visit to the cathedral and the “Pelourinho”. The day ends in the pursuit of Ouro Preto splendours. Visit to the Oratory Museum and the Mining Museum. Evening at leisure.

Obs.: Monday’s most of the attractions are closed. Fridays at 11:30 and Sundays at 12:15, organ recitals are given at the matriz de Santo Antonio Catedral in Mariana.

DAY 20 : OURO PRETO – CONGONHAS – TIRADENTES
This morning, the visit of Ouro Preto continues. After lunch, it is time to head south to the city of Congonhas. 01H30 journey for 115 km. The hill that overlooks the city holds Master Antonio Francisco Lisboa, “o Aleijadinho”, masterpiece. Twelve allegories, human-sized, carved at the feet of the Basilica de Bom Jesus dos Matosinhos. This set is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The afternoon goes on the road to Tiradentes, a village preserved from the colonial era. 01H30 for 115 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. After a break, guided visit among the cobblestone streets, baroque vestiges and workshops. Evening at leisure.

Obs.: Monday’s most of the attractions are closed. From Friday to Sunday a steam train makes the journey between Tiradentes and São João Del Rei.

DAY 21 : TIRADENTES – RIO DE JANEIRO
In the morning, the visit of Tiradentes continues. Tiradentes is a bucolic retreat in the heart of the gold valleys. DAY 22 : RIO DE JANEIRO – PARATY
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby and private transportation to Paraty. 04H00 journey for 260 km. Upon arrival, check-in and installation at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to discover the historical city centre, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city reveals, after a century of isolation, its magnificent colonial mansions, its great cultural life and its romantic atmosphere. Return to hotel by the end of the afternoon. Evening at leisure.

DAY 23 : PARATY – PRAIA DO SONO – PONTA NEGRA
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. He will escort the group during his trek around Juatinga peninsula. Local bus ride to Laranjeiras where begins the adventure. The trail runs along the coast and crosses the Atlantic rainforest to Praia do Sono. 01H30 walk. The sleepy beach is a great place for lunch. Free time on the white sand beach. The trek resumes by an effort climbing the hills and walking by deserted beaches to Ponta Negra. 01H30 walk. Upon arrival installation in a local chalet. Candlelight dinner cradle by the waves.

DAY 24 : PONTA NEGRA / AT LEISURE
Day at leisure in the village of Ponta Negra, where activities are numerous:
Praia dos Antigo’s bath;
Hike on the coast, raid into the Atlantic rainforest;
Climb to the Cairuçu peak,
Walk to Saco Bravo waterfall,
Fishing or football games with the locals;
Relax and swim in the clear water cascades,

DAY 25 : PONTA NEGRA – PRAIA DO SONO – PARATY
Breakfast by the ocean. At 10:00, trek escorted by an local guide to Laranjeiras. It is time to say goodbye to Ponta Negra little paradise. After the Regato beach and waterfall, the trail curves to contour hills and disappear into the rainforest. Beaches reappear soon. 01H30 walk to reach Praia do Sono. Lunch and free time on the beach before continuing to Laranjeiras. 01H30 walk. The trail goes along the ocean and proportionate a last ascent before the asphalt. At Laranjeiras, local bus ride to Paraty. 35 minutes journey. Upon arrival, the group shall make his way to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 26 : PARATY – RIO DE JANEIRO / DEPARTURE
