Full itinerary in two of the most touristic states in Brazil. Historic cradles of the country, they also offer excellent options of trekking as sport activities and beautiful beaches to relax after the hike. Architecture, gastronomy, history and nature summarize this beautiful journey.

DAY 1 : RIO DE JANEIRO / ARRIVAL
International flight arrival (schedule and flight number to confirm). Reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 2 : RIO DE JANEIRO / CORCOVADO & THE HISTORICAL CITY CENTER
At 09:00 a.m, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Private transportation to one of the modern world 7 wonders, the worldwide symbol of Rio de Janeiro. From the Corcovado hill, the allegory of Jesus Christ embraces and protects the Cidade Maravilhosa. The panorama offers on the city and its environment is impressive. On one side, the legendary beaches: Ipanema, Leblon, …, the Sugar Loaf; on the other, the northern area and the Maracanã stadium. After lunch, the visit continues in the heart of the Carioca capital for a walking tour. Founded in 1565, São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro has a lot to teach. The cobbled streets share space with skyscrapers and museums. The group interests will determine the visitation schedule. But it guarantees the main attractions: Cinelandia, escadaria colorida, Cathedral, Praca Tiradentes, Real Gabinete Portuguese de Leitura, Uruguaiana, son souk, Praca XV, le Morro da Conceição, Praca Maua and Rio Art Museum. The visit allows to discover every phase of construction of the city and its development for the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Return to the hotel by late morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 3 : RIO DE JANEIRO / FAVELAS DONA MARTA
At 09:00 a.m, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Public transportation to Santa Marta favelas, a former drug lord’s stronghold. It offers a complementary view and perspective of the Brazilian society. With a local guide, born in the community funicular ride to reach the summit of the community. Panorama of the region, stop at the football pitch and walk down through the tangled streets, the history and the everyday life of this popular community. Created as an example for all the other communities Santa Marta favelas bets on education and culture to provide younger generations a healthy future. Return to the hotel by late morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 4 : RIO DE JANEIRO – PARATY
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby and private transportation to Paraty. 04H00 journey for 260 km. Upon arrival, check-in and installation at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to discover the historical city centre, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city reveals, after a century of isolation, its magnificent colonial mansions, its great cultural life and its romantic atmosphere. Return to hotel by the end of the afternoon. Evening at leisure.

DAY 5 : PARATY – PRAIA DO SONO – PONTA NEGRA
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. He will escort the group during his trek around Juatinga peninsula. Local bus ride to Laranjeiras where begins the adventure. The trail runs along the coast and crosses the Atlantic rainforest to Praia do Sono. 01H30 walk. The sleepy beach is a great place for lunch. Free time on the white sand beach. The trek resumes by an effort climbing the hills and walking by deserted beaches to Ponta Negra. 01H30 walk. Upon arrival installation in a local chalet. Candlelight dinner cradle by the waves.

DAY 6 : PONTA NEGRA – CAIRUCU – POUSO DA CAJAIBA
After breakfast, leaving the Ponta Negra is heart-breaking. In fact, the first part of the trekking will be difficult. The ascent is long. 02H00-3H00 trail to climb 500 meters above sea level. The summit offers freshness. The descent is an opportunity to go deep into rainforest before reaching sea level and Martin de Sá. A long deserted white sand beach well known by surfers. Lunch break, free time and bath before going for today’s last effort. A new ascent is necessary. 01H30 walk to reach, in the afternoon, Pouso da Cajaiba. End of the day at leisure in the village.

DAY 7 : POUSO DA CAJAIBA – PRAIA GRANDE – MAMANGUA
After breakfast, trekking to Praia Grande and to Brazil single fiord. The trail goes along beaches, hills and tiny villages. The pace is gentle, and marked with pleasant encounters. 02H00 walk until Praia Grande is drawn in the horizon. Lunch and free time for a bath before resuming the trek to the fiord. 01H30 walk to Saco do Mamangua east bank. Short motorboat ride to cross the fiord. Upon arrival, installation and end of the day at leisure.

DAY 8 : MAMANGUA / KAYAK OR PÃO DE AÇÚCAR
Morning at leisure or activities according with the group’s wishes. For the most motivated part of the group, full day of activities accompanied by a local Portuguese-speaking local guide:
Half kayaking day into the mangroves. Silent navigation in the fiord and its bottom not to scare egrets and crabs. Refreshing moment by a waterfall.
Half trekking day up to the local Sugar Loaf. It offers a stunning panoramic view of the Saco do Mamanguá. 01H00 walk for 400 meters uphill. Free time on top to enjoy the view. Bath at the hill bottom.
Return to the refuge before sunset for a relaxing activity! Evening at leisure.

DAY 9 : MAMANGUA – PARATY / COSTAL NAVIGATION IN THE BAY
After breakfast, embark on a local fisherman boat equipped for costal navigation. The refuge disappears on the way back to Paraty. Rolling droves the embarkation to clear water deserted coves. Snorkeling looking for turtles and starfishes. Stops by hidden beaches, shaded by the Atlantic rainforest. Fish lunch break. Then, navigation continues into the bay’s calm waters. Upon arrival, the group shall make its way to the hotel. Evening at leisure.

DAY 10 : PARATY – RIO DE JANEIRO – SALVADOR
08H00 hours prior to take-off, private transportation to Rio de Janeiro airport. 04H00 journey for 260 km. Domestic flight Rio de Janeiro – Salvador (time and number to be confirmed). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 11 : SALVADOR / PELOURINHO & HISTORICAL CITY CENTRE
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Guided visit of the “Pelourinho”, where the history and energy of Salvador are centred. Walking among traditional houses and churches. Salvador reveals the secrets of the afro-Brazilian religion and its baroque treasures. The “Pelourinho” surprises travellers on every corner: a “Batuque”; a cold beer; a ‘berimbau “; a “roda de Capoeira “. From the “Elevador Lacerda”, an amazing view of the Baia de Todos os Santos; the area “do Comercio”, and the souvenir mercado modelo. On the other side the “Praça da Sé”; and the Museum of Afro-Brazilian culture, the pulsating heart of Salvador. Return to the hotel by the end of the morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 12 : SALVADOR – PALMEIRAS – CAETÉ AÇU
At 06:00, meeting in the hotel lobby, with a local Portuguese-speaking driver. Private transpotation to Salvador bus station. At 07:00, departure by collective passenger bus to Palmeiras, gateway to the Chapada Diamantina National Park. 07H30 journey for 445 km. 07H30 journey for 445 km. Upon arrival, reception at the bus station and private transpotation to Caeté Açú. 00H30 journey for 40 km. Check-in, installation at the hotel and rest of the day leisure to visit the tiny born hippy village.

DAY 13 : CAETÉ AÇU – GERAIS DO VIERA – GERAIS DO RIO PRETO – VALE DO PATI
After breakfast, short transfer from Caeté-Açú to Bomba. The day trek leads to the heart of the Chapada Diamantina national park and the Pati valley. 06H00 walk for 600 meters uphill. The journey is pretty heavy but promises to be rewarding. Well nature brilliantly expresses itself here through the discreet birds, a rich flora, some endemic orchids and large panorama on the mountains. Picnic in the Brazilian immensity looking at the Chapada’s unique formations. After a while on the flat plateau an abrupt descent lays in front to reach the canyon’s heart before a last saddle which leads into the Pati valley. Upon arrival, installation in a rustic local room of a valley resident. Free time before dinner. Evening under the stars.

DAY 14 : VALE DO PATI / CAHOEIRÃO POR CIMA
An active outdoor day is announced! 05H00 walk for 500 meters uphill. After breakfast, hike along a mule trail to the Rio Preto plateau. The short grass facilitate progress in these gigantic Chapada landscapes. The flat land disappears to enter the River Cachoeirão Valley. A rewarded effort when the river falls hastily though a rocky theatre that offer a large panorama of the Pati valley. Lunch break and relaxation by this Brazilian postcard before going back to the camp for the night. Dinner and evening at leisure in the valley.

DAY 15 : VALE DO PATI / CASCADES & MORRO DO CASTELO
After breakfast, hike to the nearby waterfalls that supply water to the green valley. Free time to bath and relax at the Banareiras waterfall. Picnic next to another one: the Lajeado waterfall. The afternoon is an opportunity to trek to the Morro do Catelo’s summit. The climb is short but intense. 01H30 walk for 400 meters uphill. From there it is possible to enjoy a large magnificent panorama of the Chapada Diamantina National Park mountains, gorges and valleys. The trail down ends by sunset, the refuge is in sight. The evening brighten by stars foretell fertile dreams.

DAY 16 : VALE DO PATI – GUINÉ – LENÇÓIS
After breakfast, it is time to leave Raquel’s house. The trek back to Lençóis starts by an ascension to the Rio Preto plateau. 05H00 walk for 450 meters uphill. The summit reveals a flat trail. Swimming break and lunch on the banks of a Black River. The journey continues to Béco, a last step before Guiné’s village on the west border of the National Park. From there off-road vehicle journey to Lençóis. 01H30 journey for 80 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel and evening at leisure.

DAY 17 : LENÇÓIS – SALVADOR
Morning at leisure.
At noon, the group shall make his way to Lençóis bus station. At 13:00, departure by collective passenger bus to Salvador. 06H30 journey to 415 km. Upon arrival, reception at the bus station and private transpotation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and evening at leisure.

DAY 18 : SALVADOR – MORRO DE SÃO PAULO
At 8:00, private transportation to the harbour station of Salvador. Embark on a ferry boat to Tinharé Island. Departure at 09:00. The city gradually disappears over the horizon. 02H30 navigation before reaching Morro de São Paulo. Upon arrival, reception at the pier and transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 21 : MORRO DE SÃO PAULO – SALVADOR / DEPARTURE
40 minutes before the ferry’s departure, private transportation to the pier. Embark on a ferry boat to Salvador at: 09:00. 02H30 navigation. Upon arrival, reception at the pier and private transportation to Salvador airport. International flight connexion (time and number to be confirmed).
