Itinerary to learn about the wonders of the Brazilian “northern hemisphere”. The north and northeast regions offer many options for activities that will thrill the traveler. The wonders of the world’s largest rainforest are the beginning of this natural immersion, followed by a spectacular trekking in the Brazilian desert, surrounded by translucent lagoons.

DAY 1 : MANAUS / ARRIVAL
International flight arrival (schedule and flight number to confirm). Reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.
Meals not included. Night at the hotel.

DAY 2 : MANAUS / CULTURAL VISIT
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with the tour guide. Visit to the Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market and its “art nouveau” hall. A popular atmosphere among tropical fruits, medicinal plants and their porters, who bring the collection of the day. Walk along the harbor and between the local boats, which connect the main cities of the region with isolated regions. The visit continues in the Palace of the Rio Negro and in the Provincial Palace, which marks the history of the city. The Amazonas Theater is no exception; it is the jewel of Manaus at the peak of the rubber exploration. Return to the hotel in the morning. Afternoon at leisure to visit the museums of the Amazon or the Museum “dos Índios”, or enjoy the local crafts.

DAY 3 : MANAUS – MALOCAS JUNGLE LODGE
At 08:00, meeting in the hotel lobby. Private transportation to the Malocas Jungle Lodge. The discovery starts by a lovely road north into the Amazon Tropical Rainforest. 01H00 journey for 80 km. It ends right next to the village of Rio Preto da Eva. The second part will be, to reach the lodge, by boat among floating houses, egrets and alligators. The Amazon Rainforest is gently unveiled. Upon arrival, installation in the rustic rooms, followed by lunch. The afternoon splits between a walk in the surrounding to spot first plant, insect and trees and a relaxing time on a white sandy beach and a swim into dark waters of the river. Candlelight dinner.

DAY 4 : MALOCAS JUNGLE LODGE / AMAZON FOREST
The day is completely dedicated to discover the environment and its mysteries. Accompanied by a bilingual guide, incursion in the secondary rainforest. The track disappears under the weight of vegetation, but the guide is familiar with the maze and its secrets. The forest provides to its population: food, medicinal plants, tools and materials needed on a daily basis. An impression of power and respect remains. After lunch, embark on canoes, the flow conducts the boat into a silent navigation. Many species benefit from the sand banks and “Igarapés” for fresh water and preys. This is an opportunity to observe them. Return to the lodge by the end of the day. Dinner outside, with the Milky Way where, the night rises on the forest, dark and uncertain.

DAY 5 : MALOCAS JUNGLE LODGE / JUNGLE SURVIVAL
The morning is spent on nearby rivers looking for birds, otters and botos that inhabit the jungle. Fishing rod and raw baits to try to catch the lengendary Piranha. Be fast to surprise these carnivorous fish. After lunch, everyone gather their sleeping bags, torches and ration before leaving the beach for the forest. Progress is slow into the dense vegetation. This walk, deeper into the forest provides surprising encounters with insects and plants. It is a perfect opportunity for our bilingual guide to share his knowledge and his secrets to survive in this inhospitable environment. The sun goes down and it is time to set up camp. Dinner under the stars and night in a hammock suspended 1,30 meter above the ground.

DAY 6 : MALOCAS JUNGLE LODGE – MANAUS
During breakfast, chat to define this morning final activity : Fish Tucunarés? Hike in the forest? Bath and canoe navigation? Explore plants and insects? After lunch, transfer to Manaus. Motor boat route to the village of Rio Preto da Eva. 01H30 navigation. At the village, transportation to Manaus changes for a car. 01H00 journey for 80 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 7 : MANAUS – SANTARÉM – RIO JARI – RESERVA FLORESTAL DE TAPAJOS
03H00 hours prior to take-off, private transportation to the airport. Domestic flight Manaus – Santarém (schedule and flight number to confirm). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transpotation to the floating harbour. Meeting with an English-speaking guide who will escort the group during the cruise the 04 days and 03 nights cruise. Boarding and installation on a typical regional boat. Among fresh drinks, introduction to the crew and to the itinerary. Navigation to the flotted area of the Rio Jari, where lives many kinds of animals: alligators, birds, capybaras, pink dolphins, otters.. Lunch in the village of Arapixuna. Visit to the local community that lives from fishing and the extration of cassava. During the afternoon, navigation from the Rio Tapajós to the Floresta Nacional dos Tapajós. Dinner and free time on the deck under the stars to listen the Amazon rainforest whispers.

DAY 8 : RESERVA FLORESTAL DE TAPAJOS – ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, hike into the heart of the secondary rainforest. 04H00 walk. The guide is essential to unveil the mysteries of this green curtain. The trail reveals a few secrets: rubber trees, medicinal plants and giant trees. Return on board for lunch. Navigation continues south to meet soon Alter do Chão. A charming village, famous for its strip of sand in the middle of dark waters. Free time in the local indigenious museum, the craft shops or on the beach. Dinner on board and evening at leisure.

DAY 9 : ALTER DO CHÃO – JAMARACUA – ALTER DO CHÃO
After breakfast, hike to the community of Jamaracua. 02H00 walk into the heart of secondary forest. The guide is essential to explore the environment and discover the technics developed by the locals to survive. It is not easy to move, to self-defend, to dress and to feed in this immensity. Their knowledge is impressive: plants, fruits and tracks have no secrets for them. More curious are the means of camouflage and communication. By late morning, arrive at the village, located at the limit of the extractive reserve of the Rio Tapajós. Visit of the village and presentation of its local customs. Lunch in the community. In the afternoon, canoe trip on the inundated arms of the river. Progression is slow and silent to observe wildlife that comes to drink or hunt on the banks. Bath in the dark waters. Return to Alter do Chão by the end of the day. Dinner is served on the white sand beach. Night under the stars.

DAY 10 : ALTER DO CHÃO – MAICÁ – SANTARÉM – SÃO LUIS
Morning navigation towards the Lago Maicá. Canoe trip into the mangroves among houses on stilts, monkeys, sloths and many birds. Peace reigns on this place. Back on board to get back to Santarém. Last adventure around the meeting of the waters. The unfinished encounter of the black water of the “Rio Tapajós” and the clear waters of the” Rio Amazonas “. The Amazon experience ends around lunchtime. Disembark and private transpotation to Santarem airport. Domestic flight Santarem – São Luis (schedule and flight number to confirm). Upon arrival, reception at the airport and private transpotation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and evening at leisure0.

DAY 11 : SÃO LUIS – SANGUE – SANTO AMARO
After breakfast, private transpotation to Santo Amaro do Maranhão. 04h30 ride to 250km. On the western border of the National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses, lies this village, perfect for relaxing and discovering the first dunes.

DAY 12 : SANTO AMARO – QUEIMADA DOS BRITOS
After breakfast, trekking to Queimada dos Britos, an oasis in the middle of the desert where some isolated families live. 06H00 journey to 20 km. The lagoons are revealed after a short climb on the dunes and it goes on and on. The horizon is full of them like a crumpled tissue. Progress is slow; walking on the dunes, swimming in the lagoons. Lunch next to a pool. Before the day continues as the guide leads the column among the sediments coloured lagoons and the low vegetation.
Arrival in Queimada dos Britos during the afternoon. End of the day at leisure in the oasis.

DIA 13 : QUEIMADA DOS BRITOS – BAIXA GRANDE
After breakfast, trekking to Baixa Grande, the second oasis of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. 03H00 walk for 08 km. Progress is slow on the firm sand, and swimming is a permanent companion. Arrival in Baixa Grande for lunch. Bathing, swimming and time at leisure in the village to re-energize, inspired by this lunar environment.

DAY 14 : BAIXA GRANDE – ATINS
Before dawn, departure to the eastern border of the National Park and to the village of Atins. 06H00 walking to 18 km. The desert, constantly changing under the influence of inclement weather, hides its last secrets. After lunch, it’s time to follow the steps of the guide, between warm tones of the sun and refreshing lagoons in turquoise, aquamarine and emerald colors. At last, the time to say goodbye is near. One last dune to descend and the vegetation of Restinga appears. Last ride in 4x4 to reach Atins. 01H00 journey. Installation at the hotel and night at leisure.

DAY 15 : ATINS – TUTÓIA – DELTA DAS AMERICAS – PARNAÍBA
After breakfast, transfer to Tutóia. 02H00 journey for 120 km. Upon arrival, embark on a motor boat to cross the delta of the Parnaíba River. Time to unveil a myriad of islands and channels. Swimming under the eyes of birds and other animals. Crab fishing in the mud! The shadows lengthen and Parnaíba emerges. Disembark and transfer to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the village.

DAY 16 : PARNAÍBA – CAMOCIM – JERICOACOARA
After breakfast, private transpotation to Parnaíba. 01H50 journey for 130 km. Villages and plantations pass behind the windows. Lunch in Camocim. After lunch, an experienced Portuguese-speaking “buggeiro” take us thought the Camocim River for a buggy ride. He operates the vehicle nimbly between dunes and ruins. Hair flying, the buggy goes along the beach. Stop at a bar, feet in the water to enjoy fresh fruit juice. The buggy continues to Jericoacoara. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure.

DAYS 17 & 18 : JERICOACOARA / AT LEISURE

Numerous activities can be organised in Jericoacoara:
– ½ day in buggy to Tatajuba or “Pedra Furada”;
– Horse ride on the dunes and beaches of “Jeri”;
– Walks, sand board on the dunes;
– Chill, relaxation, and grilled fish;
– Boat or kayak rentals;
– Kite and Wind surfing initiation, equipment rental.

DAY 19 : JERICOACOARA – FORTALEZA / DEPARTURE
08H00 prior to take-off, private transpotation to Fortaleza airport. International flight (schedule and flight number to confirm).
