DAY 1 : SALVADOR / ARRIVAL
International / domestic flight arrival (schedule and flight number to confirm). Reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 2 : SALVADOR / LOWER CITY VISIT
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Today’s visit goes through the lower part of Salvador. First stop at Barra’s lighthouse which has been guiding ships to the entrance of the bay for 450 years. Next stop at the São Joaquim Market: loud, colourful and tasty where Candomblé magic is not far! The trip continues to the peninsula of Ribeira, a lively neighbourhood: in the morning during fish market and at night for dancing. The visit finishes at the church of Bonfim where and its impressive: “room of miracle” which proves the strong popular devotion. Return to at the hotel by late morning. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 3 : SALVADOR / CAPOEIRA & CANDOMBLÉ
The morning is dedicated to discover the capoeira. This martial art results of a fabulous mix of fight, dance and music. A Brazilian professor, master of the game, presents the instruments. Introduction to the “jogo” and the “ginga”, to the rhythms and the basic movements for 02 hours. An art forbidden for a long time who became the first Portuguese diffusion vector in the world. A posthumous tribute to the “Mestres” Bimba and Pastinha, considered as the discipline creators. After a quick shower and lunch, the day continues on discovery of the folklore and Afro-Brazilian religion of Candomblé. A mixture of indigenous rituals, African beliefs and Catholicism. Stop at the Market São Joaquin, where religious and adepts buy their worship artefacts. Walk through the “Pelourinho”, and stops: at the Afro-Brazilian Museum, which holds an exhibition of the 22 “Orixás”, at a photo-exhibition as a «tribute to Pierre Verger” or in the house of Jorge Amado. The first visitations present the Candomblé, the last one will enlight it. In a “terreiro”, where prayers and rituals are performed. Sung and danced, the trance is impressive as well as the priests and their disguised “Orixás”. Return to the hotel by the end of the day. Evening at leisure.

DAY 4 : SALVADOR / COOKING CLASS AQUARELAS
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide/driver. First stop at the “Ceasinha” market. Presentation and tasting of fruits and spices. Then, shopping of ingredients to prepare an authentic Brazilian lunch. In the atelier of a local Bahian artist, preparation of vegetables enjoying the national cocktail and nuts. In that well-restored colonial house the flavours of local gastronomy are revealed: sweetened by fruits and coconut milk. Return at the hotel by mid-afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 5 : SALVADOR – BELO HORIZONTE
03H00 prior to take-off, private transportation to the airport. Domestic flight Salvador – Belo Horizonte (schedule and flight number to confirm). Reception at the airport and private transportation to the hotel. Check-in, installation and rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 6 : BELO HORIZONTE – INHOTIM – OURO PRETO
At 08:30, meeting in the lobby of the hotel with an English-speaking guide/driver. He will escort the group on Minas Gerais colonial cities routes. Transfer to the Inhotim complex. 01H00 journey for 60 km. Created in 2005, this botanical and landscape gardens feature a collection of contemporary art in: “a place of knowledge production where the environment and art coexist”. Guided walking visit through cultural and scientific initiatives which compose the complex. The closure of the Inhotim leads us back on the road to Ouro Preto. 01H30 journey for 110 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. Evening at leisure.

DAY 7 : OURO PRETO & MARIANA
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. The wealth extracted from mines in the XVIII century transformed the region into an architectural museum. A perfect stopover for art and architecture lovers. Discover colonial houses and religious buildings such as Nossa Senhora do Pilar church…, the art of Aleijadinho, Mestre Athaíde and their disciples. The tour continues to Mariana located about 10 km away from Ouro Preto. The singular village is almost untouched since the Portuguese installation: a wonder! Visit to the cathedral and the “Pelourinho”. The day ends in the pursuit of Ouro Preto splendours. Visit to the Oratory Museum and the Mining Museum. Evening at leisure.

Obs.: Monday’s most of the attractions are closed. Fridays at 11:30 and Sundays at 12:15, organ recitals are given at the matriz de Santo Antonio Catedral in Mariana.

DAY 8 : OURO PRETO – CONGONHAS – TIRADENTES
This morning, the visit of Ouro Preto continues. After lunch, it is time to head south to the city of Congonhas. 01H30 journey for 115 km. The hill that overlooks the city holds Master Antonio Francisco Lisboa, “o Aleijadinho”, masterpiece. Twelve allegories, human-sized, carved at the feet of the Basilica de Bom Jesus dos Matosinhos. This set is classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The afternoon goes on the road to Tiradentes, a village preserved from the colonial era. 01H30 for 115 km. Upon arrival, check-in, installation at the hotel. After a break, guided visit among the cobblestone streets, baroque vestiges and workshops. Evening at leisure.

Obs.: Monday’s most of the attractions are closed. From Friday to Sunday a steam train makes the journey between Tiradentes and São João Del Rei.

DAY 9 : TIRADENTES – RIO DE JANEIRO
In the morning, the visit of Tiradentes continues. Tiradentes is a bucolic retreat in the heart of the gold valleys. After lunch, the journey continues toward Rio de Janeiro. 04H00 journey for 330 km. An early exit allows a final stop in Petrópolis, a Brazilian Imperial City. 01H30 journey for 70 km. Discover the Imperial Museum, the Cathedral and the Palace of Crystal. Stop at the curious house of the aviator Santos Dumont. Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and installation at the hotel.

Obs.: Monday’s most of the attractions are closed. From Friday to Sunday a steam train makes the journey between Tiradentes and São João Del Rei.

DAY 10 : RIO DE JANEIRO / DOIS IRMAOS HILL TREKKING AND
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Public transportation to the bottom of the Vidigal Favelas. The visitation starts by a local kombi or moto taxi ride through the pacified favelas to the Morro dos 02 Irmãos trail starting point. 01H20 walk for 150 meters uphill. The walk offers several view points on Rocinha the biggest favelas in Latin America, São Conrado and the Gávea Rock. The top offers one of the most beautiful view of Rio de Janeiro. From this spot, it is possible to enjoy a wide panorama of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Leblon beach and the Corcovado Hill. Free time on the top. The way down goes back the same way and offers the opportunity to visit the narrow streets of the Vidigal favelas.
Return to the hotel by mid-afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 11 : RIO DE JANEIRO / CARNIVAL EXPERIENCE
At 09:00 a.m or at 02:00 p.m, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English–speaking guide. Public transportation to the cidade do samba. A place created to host the garment and the floats factory of the Carioca special group samba schools. An incursion into the carnival backstage. Visit of the Grande Rio samba school factory. After the visit, it is time for a couple of worshops. Stimulate hearing by a percussion workshop. Presentation and introduction to the rhythms that compose the samba. Discover the instruments with enigmatic names: cuíca, agogô, afoxé, bandolim, … Stimulate the body by a dance workshop! Unleash the sounds of samba, a while forbidden, that makes the world dance since 80 years. It illustrates the everyday life, the crossbreeding and the Brazilian. An essential training to face the Carioca nights. Stimulate creativity with a dressmaking workshop, in the middle of the feathers and sequins, to create and adorn a hat or a t-shirt. Return to the hotel by late morning or afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 12 : RIO DE JANEIRO / CORCOVADO & COOK CLASS
At 09:00 a.m, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. Private transportation to one of the modern world 7 wonders, the worldwide symbol of Rio de Janeiro. From the Corcovado hill, the allegory of Jesus Christ embraces and protects the Cidade Maravilhosa. The panorama offers on the city and its environment is impressive. On one side, the legendary beaches: Ipanema, Leblon, …, the Sugar Loaf; on the other, the northern area and the Maracanã stadium. After the visit, the day continues in the historical city centre. Walk through the small streets filled with shops of all kind that surrounds the metropolitan. The visit continues and cross the Rio Branco Avenue for a little more peace towards the Praça XV. At Lampadosa restaurant the bilingual chef Simone Almeida welcomes the gourmets. Introduction to the Brazilian cuisine by cooking an authentic 03 course Carioca dish. The vegetables are sliced, the fruits are cut and the spice are chopped before learning the National cocktail recipe and taste it. The noise precedes the scents that will succeed to the flavours. The time has come, to enjoy a local meal! Return to the hotel after lunch. Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 13 : RIO DE JANEIRO – PARATY / VISIT
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby and private transportation to Paraty. 04H00 journey for 260 km. Upon arrival, check-in and installation at the hotel. At 14:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide for a visit of Paraty’s historical city centre, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city reveals, after a century of isolation, its magnificent colonial mansions, its great cultural life and its romantic atmosphere. Return to hotel by the end of the afternoon. Evening at leisure.

DAY 14 : PARATY / TRINDADE, QUILOMBO, CASCATAS & CACHAÇA
At 09:00, meeting in the hotel lobby with an English-speaking guide. In jeep, departure to discover the interior of the caiçara lands. First stop, the village of Trindade. Free time and refreshing break in the ocean. The visit continues towards a community founded, previously, by fugitive slaves. The Quilombo de Campinho continues to be a place of resistance and expression of an Afro-Brazilian culture. Visit and lunch in the community. After lunch, the day continues towards Cunha and the discovery enters the Atlantic Forest. Short hikes and bathing in the waterfalls. The water is refreshing, and the atmosphere is guaranteed by its evocative names: Tarzan, toboggan, …. Before returning to Paraty, stop at a cachaçaria to taste and / or acquire the local “aguardente”. Return to Paraty in late afternoon. Rest of the day at leisure.

DIA 15 : PARATY / BOAT RIDE ON THE BAY
At 09:30, meeting in the hotel lobby with the captain. Walk to Paraty’s marina. The regional fishing boat his equipped for costal navigation. Sailing day to explore the islands and deserted beaches that abound in Paraty’s bay. Bath is mandatory, snorkelling if up to you, Caïpirinha is optional. Return to Paraty with the sunset. Evening at leisure.

DIA 16 : PARATY – RIO DE JANEIRO / DEPARTURE
